Vår at Ljunggren

Vår (Björn Atldax and Karl Grandin) are exhibiting 8 pieces at the restaurant Ljunggren in Stockholm. The pieces are illustrations from posters Vår has created for different projects such as festivals, lectures and clubs - relieved of all the text. Taken out of context and without words the images are telling a different story, and Vår's typical symbols and creatures get to lead their own remarkable lives. Welcome to the opening at Ljunggren, Götgatan 36, Wednesday 30 November at 5pm - 8pm.

VÅR - Hove Triptych completed!

On the 28th of June it's time again for Norway's biggest music festival HOVE. Due to its magical surroundings on a beautiful island by the town of Arendal, and it's large international acts, its known for being the ultimate festival experience.
For the fourth year in a row Vår made the illustrated profile, applied on posters, websites, merchandise, stage decorations and more. This year's poster is the final of a Triptych.
Vår - Festen på Gärdet

Vår’s Karl Grandin is one of the people behind the one-day free festival on Gärdet in Stockholm. On Saturday 21st of May there will be live music from 12 pm. Bring your friends and family, sit down on the grass and enjoy the great atmosphere.

This week, the magazine Frihet has won two prestigious prices at different Swedish magazine awards. "Best redesign of the year" and "Best customer magazine". Vår is the duo behind the re-make!
Jury's motivation for best redesign: "This year’s winner is after the re-make clearly standing on the reader’s side. The new form is a perfect balance between a political magazine and a basement made fanzine. Not everything is perfect, but it’s brave, cheeky and hits the target group spot on.”

Vår - Cheap Monday Clairvoyant

For the second season in a row, Vår is designing the graphic concept of Cheap Monday's glasses Clairvoyant. After introducing 3D skeletons with 3D glasses in the first season, they now present a brand new eye chart with esoteric symbols. Tau, Chaos, Triskelion, Smiley and Illuminati are just a few of them. 29th of June it's time for the the ultimate festival experience; the Norweigan music festival Hove!
It takes place on an island on the outskirts of the town of Arendal. Camping, nature, beaches with idyllic surroundings, large international acts and Norweigan artists. Besides the music you can watch yet-to-be-released movies and eat delicious organic food. Vår made the illustrative profile for the third year in a row for this great event.

H&M continues their collaboration with guest designers for prints under the label "Art By". This time Vår was asked to design a collection of all-over prints applied on kids street wear. The entire collection is made of recycled materials and ecological textiles!

Karl Grandin (Vår) collaborated with And Beyond at the group exhibition ”If You Could
Collaborate” at A Foundation Gallery in London. Together they collected familiar elements
from flags, detaching them from their original flag and putting them together into one giant,
global flag.

Vår and MTV Networks

For a client event at MTV Networks (MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and VH1) Vår illustrated a "history tree", made out of pipes, lianas, tree branches and electrical cords, covering some of the highlights from the past of the four channels. The illustration was applied on posters, drink tickets, bags and t-shirts.
Karl Grandin (Vår) at Bastard Gallery

Vår’s Karl Grandin is exhibiting, together with Anne Grandin and Karin Gille, at Bastard Gallery in Stockholm between the 12th – 21st December.
In the installation ’Superpowers of Ten’ Karl has been working on the concept abstraction. The image is broken down and stylized into a logical, geometrical raster. Then he turns the process inside out and builds it up again. The parts appear together as a chaotic cosmos, but with a new clearness.

Vår - Lilla Baren, Riche

In the end of April, Vår transformed one of the restrooms at restaurant Riche’s Lilla Baren, The Small Bar, into a new permanent installation. The piece is an interpretation of the altarpiece triptych ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ created by Hieronymus Bosch in the early sixteenth century.

Royalcheese and sixpack France

Karl Grandin from Vår displayed his latest work at his one man show, called ”it is Together”, arranged by Sixpack France at Royalcheese in Paris. Among his work were the first manifestations of ”Karl’s allseeing character” and his ”far out cosmos”.
